Villages and towns
St Martin de Fressengeas - Our local village perched high on top of a hill. Good views of the area and has a fine Norman church.
St Jean de Cole - Officially listed as "one of France's prettiest villages".
Thiviers - The hub of the community, a busy little market town famous for it's winter fairs. The Saturday market sells anything from foie gras, trout and truffles to strawberries, apples and walnuts that are all locally produced.
Brantôme - A beautiful town situated on an island in the middle of the River Dronne, it is called "the Venice of Perigord". Along with the numerous shops, cafes and restaurants, there are riverboat rides, canoeing and troglodyte caves to visit.
Perigueux - It has all the facilities of a modern town and is the capital of the province. Dominated by its Byzantine cathedral on the banks of the River l'Isle, it offers visitors the chance to sample the regions gastronomy.
Limoges - Famous for its porcelain and capital of the Limousin region.
Châteaux There are over 1000 châteaux in the Perigord. These are some of the closest.
Puyguilhem - Renaissance jewel of the Dordogne
Jumilhac - Built high on a cliff side and a scenic drive to reach it.
Montbrun - Beautifully restored castle. Now a private home but open to visitors. If you fancy owning it, it is for sale. 26,000,000 euros is the asking price!
Hautefort - Loire style château.
Les Bories - Famous for its gothic kitchen and grand staircase.

Grottes de Villars - A network of caves with impressive stalactites, stalagmites and calcite flows, together with prehistoric cave paintings.
Pan for gold - At Jumilhac le Grand the gold gallery organises gold panning sessions 3 afternoons a week. You can keep what you find!
l 'Abbaye Notre Dame de Boschaud - Close to Villars, an old ruined abbey nestled deep in the countryside that is slowly being restored. During the summer months classical concerts are held in the grounds.
Fish for trout - Nr. St Jean de Cole, have a days fishing and then cook what you catch.
