Whether
you want to explore the area on foot or by bike there are plenty of routes for
everyone. The area offers some outstanding trails through woodlands and forest
and along picturesque hills and valleys. The
wildlife here is abundant ranging from the shy deer and wild boar to buzzards,
hen harriers and a huge variety of songbirds. You might even see a red squirrel
in the pine forests. We were thrilled at our first sighting. Trout are the
quarry in the two nearby streams, la Queue d'Ane and the River Cole and are
popular with the local fishermen. About
a kilometre away is "La Voie Verte" or Green Way that runs for 16km
through the heart of the Perigord Vert. You will encounter spectacular scenery
at whatever time of year you visit. Late autumn is a good time to see the
changing colours of the trees, the days are still warm and the sunsets are
beautiful. Cheaper flights are an added attraction for those people wanting a
late break. An aerial view of the house and surrounding area.
