RÉALISATION DES PORTRAITS

Maria de Faykod is often called by a number of VIPs for portraits and different memorials. Her busts and portraits that are beyond human resemblance are very well known and, before all, 'true living sculptures'

The secret of her work is that instead of representing the character of a person with shapes and traits, she attempts to find her "mind" and its representation on the face.
As she goes back to the original sources, she follows a track opposite that of creation

De Faykod innovates in two different planes: in the language of sculpture and the very process of creation.
Each individual builds, according to her, his own 'cathedral' that materialises his own face from the global shape to the smallest particles.

Via portraits, she attempts to express the virtual link between the soul, the conscience and the traits of each individual.

In her hands, marble or bronze are the very materials for metamorphosis because the invisible shape of the soul strikes out of the external shape of the face.
And this gives the true depth of the individuals being sculpted as well as a reflection of the portrait created by de Faykod
