This little sampler is in the style of the Quaker samplers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Sometimes known as friendship samplers, they were often worked in one colour of dark floss and given as tokens of love or friendship.
In the upper portion of the sampler is a Quaker motto that is just as profound and relevant today as it was hundreds of years ago .
Work the sampler in a colour of floss of your choice or, to give it the look of black floss that has faded over the centuries, try using Gentle Art Sampler Threads, Vikki Clayton's pure silk Hand Dyed Fibers or DMC in the colours suggested in the key.
